Vascular lesions
VASCULAR LESIONS INCLUDE:
- Telangiectasia:
Tiny capillaries that appear near the surface of the face. They may
be red, blue or purple in color. Also known as Spider Veins.
- Rosacea:
Inflammation and swelling of the face.
PULSED LIGHT: HOW DOES IT WORK?
Pulses of concentrated light are directed onto the skin and absorbed by
the blood (for vascular lesion treatment). Pulsed light systems are
similar to lasers, but with a larger, more diffuse beam for safe, fast,
and comfortable treatments.
REJUVELUX VASCULAR LESION TREATMENTS
RejuveLux light pulses heat the small capillaries that cause
telangiectasia, Rosacea and other vascular lesions. The heat shrinks
these capillaries, which may redden or become gray after treatment. They
then fade from view after approximately ten days.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. What is a
benign vascular lesion?
A. Benign vascular lesions are overgrown enlarged blood vessels or
multiple small vessels. There is a way to treat these vessels, safely,
easily and effectively with the Vascular Lesion Laser by targeting the
red blood cells which in turn heat and damage the vessels.
Q. Will
RejuveLux Treatments Hurt?
A. RejuveLux uses a unique long pulsewidth that delivers
energy to the skin over a relatively long period of time without
overheating the epidermis. This makes the pulses safer and more
comfortable. You may experience a feeling similar to that of a rubber
band being snapped on the skin, but most people do not report this
sensation as painful
Q. Are There Any Adverse Reactions to
Treatment?
A. You may experience temporary redness and a mild “sunburn”-
like effect that may last a few hours to a few days.
Q. What are
RejuveLux treatment sessions like?
A. Quick and easy! After your initial preparation, your treatment
provider will move the Palomar pulsed light handpiece over your skin.
The handpiece emits a light that breaks up the pigment in the lesions.
Most people perceive the light as a gentle "snapping" sensation, which
causes little to no discomfort.
Q. What should I
expect after treatment?
A. Pigmented lesions will darken
slightly after treatment, and then fade away after about 10-14 days.
Vessels (visible veins) generally
undergo immediate graying or blanching and the surrounding area may
redden. The vessels then fade after about 10-14 days.
Most people experience some mild
temporary redness and swelling, similar to a sunburn, in the treated
area shortly after treatment. This does not interfere with normal
activities and usually subsides within a day. In some cases, the redness
may last longer, but will still be mild and temporary. We will explain
other, less likely side effects to you.
Q. What is the difference between
RejuveLux pulsed light and laser treatments?
A. Pulsed-light systems and lasers are very similar and treat
lesions in basically the same way. However, the RejuveLux process uses a
new technology that removes lesions much faster then lasers. RejuveLux
treatments can fit even the busiest person's schedule.
